Finnish and USA missions aid Türkiye disaster relief efforts through the SAC

Pápa, 12 February 2023 – Over the weekend, the Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC) flew two disaster relief missions facilitating Member Nations Finland’s and United States’ aid transport to Türkiye.

Finland sent 4 pallets of mobile tents and a Finnish civil protection specialist on Saturday, 11 February from Tampere, Finland to Incirlik, Türkiye, and the United States provided a K-loader – a special vehicle used to load and off-load large transport aircraft such as the C-17 – to aid aerial port operations on Incirlik Air Base on Sunday, 12 February.

Both Finland and the United States made room on board for the donations of the Strategic Airlift Capability’s international community living in Pápa, Hungary. The community managed to collect 20 bags of warm clothes overnight on Saturday and stood up for people in trouble on Sunday, too, when it came together and gathered additional women’s and children’s hygiene products and warm clothing bringing the total weight of humanitarian donations to 600 kilos.
