SAC completes its 3000th mission

13 May 2022 – PÁPA  - The Strategic Airlift Capability has recently completed its 3,000th mission in its 13-year history. In 13 years, all 12 Member Nations had significant missions carried out, and frequenting mission destinations changed together with history.

Many times, Member Nations used the SAC as an emergency resource. The SAC has been playing an active role and has been a significant asset for its Member Nations during events we all still remember.

In 2020, when civilian and military aviation alike stood at halt due to the outbreak of a pandemic, Romania, Bulgaria, The Netherlands, and Hungary used flight hours to transport medical equipment to fight COVID.

In 2020, after a devastating explosion shook Beirut, capital of Lebanon, The Netherlands sent a Search and Rescue team only 24 hours after the explosion with one of the SAC C-17-s.

In 2021, several Member Nations used SAC C-17-s to support the evacuation effort after the Taliban takeover of Kabul, capital of Afghanistan.
