SAC conducts joint emergency Response Exercise

Pápa, 26 April 2022 - Hungarian Defence Forces at Pápa Air Base together with the Hungarian Ambulance and Firefighting Services successfully held an Emergency Response Exercise with the Strategic Airlift Capability, using a SAC C-17 aircraft as the focus of the exercise.

The exercise scenario simulated a C-17 with passengers and crew on board skidding off the runway during landing at Pápa Air Base, resulting in multiple injuries.

The purpose of the exercise was to examine the efficiency of Pápa Air Base's Emergency Plan and to investigate how the base's Passenger Terminal could serve as an interim medical first aid location before transporting injured people to hospitals.

The exercise provided an opportunity for first responders to assess their coordination procedures. It also allowed the Strategic Airlift Capability and Pápa Air Base to test the speed and efficiency of their processes and coordination in order to better prepare for such an event.
