Swedish military crisis team arrives in Türkiye at night to aid disaster relief

Adana, 9 February 2023 – Sweden sent a disaster relief team and equipment assembled for this specific mission with a Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC) C-17 to aid Türkiye in its search and rescue and disaster relief efforts.
This is a team that the armed forces put together. This is not normally a reserve that Sweden has on hand, but in 36 hours the Swedish Armed Forces were able to compile this resource

told Swedish Minister of Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin to newspaper Dagens Nyheter yesterday.

The SAC’s operational arm, the Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW), left from Pápa, Hungary in the morning of 9 February to load 45 military personnel, 5 Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency experts, 3 rolling stock, dogs, and 4 pallets, a total of 30 tons in Ronneby, Sweden. After a stopover in Pápa, Hungary, the aircraft landed in Adana, Türkiye in the evening.

The thoughts of the SAC team are with those affected by the disaster in the region. We stand ready to assist and support in any way we can and are proud to support the efforts of the international community in this time of need.
